The latest book is about Art Nouveau architecture, and my attempt to break new ground on a subject I have worked on and loved for many years. Art Nouveau: the Architecture of Modern Life has been out for a few months now. The brilliant publisher, Heni, is committed to high quality books on art, and this one is a tour de force, if I say so myself. Over the years, one gets tired of the same images being constantly used in books on Art Nouveau. Heni changed this by commissioning new photography, by the legendary Pete Huggins, and so there are fabulous images from some 28 countries. Book designer Tom Cabot has done a great job, and the whole Heni team has been there throughout.
The rest of the images here reveal the half-a-dozen areas of interest I’ve held for some time:
- fin de siècle culture
- ceramic art, everywhere, and through time
- all aspects of painting
- the history of exhibitions and world’s fairs
- Modernism and modernity
I owe a debt of gratitude to many people who helped me get these books done over the years. Thank you all for putting up with me.
